Great Britain, nineteenth-century maritime power and industrial, has played a leading role in developing parliamentary democracy and literature and science. At the height of his power, the British empire rule the one-quarter of Earth's surface. In the first half of the twentieth century the power of Britain seriously eroded the two world wars.
